Course Overview

This introductory class is designed for anyone curious about stepping into the world of professional voiceover. Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to refine raw talent, this session focuses on building confidence, unlocking creativity, and understanding the foundations of voice acting as both an art form and a business.

You’ll learn how to approach scripts, develop vocal versatility, and begin thinking like a professional voice artist. Most importantly, you’ll be encouraged to let go of inhibitions and embrace the freedom that strong audio storytelling demands.

Class Breakdown

1. Welcome & Mindset (15 mins)
Introduction to the industry and setting expectations. Breaking down the biggest barrier: self-consciousness. You have permission to be ridiculous — it’s often the first step to finding truth in performance.

2. Voice & Performance Basics (30 mins)
Warm-ups, vocal play, and exercises to loosen up the voice. Exploring tone, pacing, and energy. Understanding how subtle changes can transform a read.

3. Script Work (30 mins)
Working with real-world scripts. Learning how to interpret copy, make choices, and deliver with intention. Group feedback and live direction.

4. Industry Insight (20 mins)
An honest look at the voiceover industry: how jobs work, what clients expect, rates, agents, and how to position yourself professionally.

5. Q&A + Next Steps (15 mins)
Open discussion with guidance on training, demo reels, and progressing into paid work.

With a career spanning commercial campaigns, radio, television, and digital content, Paul has worked across a wide range of projects, lending his voice to brands, broadcasters, and creative productions both in Ireland and internationally. His work is defined by clarity, connection, and an ability to adapt tone and style to suit each story.

Beyond the mic, Paul has built a strong reputation as a voice director and script collaborator, helping shape performances and guide talent to deliver natural, engaging reads. His experience on both sides of the glass gives him a practical understanding of what clients and audiences respond to.

Paul Butler Lennox is a Dublin-born Actor, Producer, Director and artist. He is also an emerging Director of Drama & Documentary. Paul has received numerous accolades, including Best Actor at the DISF festival in Dublin and a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Underground Cinema Awards. Paul gained critical acclaim playing 'Ceaser' in 'Marauders' and as Jake in 'The Voice,' both featured in the international festival circuit. Recently Paul received the Axis Assemble Award for his Doc ‘Seven floors up’ Pat Tierney. He was also selected to pitch this project at the Celtic media Awards in Cornwall in 2025. Paul will play Oscar in Adam Mann's upcoming film 'Coolatin.' His notable lead roles include Joe in "A Day like Today," which was selected for the Galway Film Fleadh, Aer Lingus flights and Australian television (which he also co-produced). Paul is currently developing a drama mini series called ‘Flares’ which is in development.

Paul's performance television work includes roles in 'Hardy Bucks' (RTE, Netflix), 'The Tudors' (HBO, Netflix), and 'Rental Boys' (RTE). His film credits also feature 'Pebble' (BAFTA Best Short Film nominee) and 'Halowin,' produced by Lars Von Trier, Directed by Paco Torres. Paul has performed at The Project, Smock Alley, The Peacock, and The Samuel Beckett Theatre.
Paul also is an experienced Vo artist, Podcast host & producer with over 20 years of experience and over a 150 Vo credits in Voiceover Work, audio drama, radio performance. He has worked on projects for RTE radio, BBC, Google, and Netflix. Recently, he has ventured into directing with documentaries addressing Ireland's housing crisis, such as "The Picturehouse" and "Cherished Unequally." He has also produced over 300 podcast episodes of Film and Tv and Sports content.
Paul was awarded a scholarship to study at John Boorman's Irish Film School and trained at the Gaiety School of Acting, earning the Bank of Ireland Scholarship. He co-founded (FNI) WeAreFNI.com and KINO D, significantly influencing the industry through 100's of events and the FNI WrapChat podcast and is a recipient of Screen Ireland funding on a number of occasions, including the Stakeholder's fund.

He also co founded under the FNI banner, Ireland 2020, a homeless awareness film festival rasing awareness of homelessness in Ireland with over 50 short films made as a result, the winner of which was screened at the Virgin Media Dublin Film Festival. Fni Fast fest, sponsored by Arri and Kodak was the brain child of Paul, again supporting hundreds of filmmakers and creatives to create their own, high production short film. Many of which went on to screen at international festivals.

Paul has also hosted events with the Cork Film Festival, Dublin Film Festival, Kerry Film festival and many more. Paul was invited to speak at IADT (the National Film and Tv school) Comic Con Dublin, TYHub a national organisation for Children entering the creative industries in Ireland and X Pollinator in Ireland. An organisation focused on the promotion of Female lead talent in Film and Tv generation.

Most recently Paul hosted an event in Avaition in Ireland to 8000 attendees in person and many more people online in Ireland. Avcon.ie
Paul also co hosts and Produce Fni Wrapchat; Ireland's primary Film and Tv Podcast producing and co hosting over 200 audio and video Episodes.

Paul has worked with 100's of Voiceover Artists one on one with many achieving work and agency representation in Ireland, the UK and the USA. Paul also hosts national group Vo workshops in Dublin, Belfast, Galway and Cork via his successful business PBL Voiceover pblvoiceover.com.

Paul is also an in demand Vo director working with large scale animation companies in Ireland to Direct and cast Animation feature films and tv shows. Currently Paul is working with the Irish/Portugal Co production 'Una' which has attracted a variety of international interest.

Paul also is an producer, Vo Director and Script Editor of the new Animated international Children’s television series The Rainbow Kingdom which features Fionnula Flanagan.

Paul is also represented by Volcanic Voiceover Agency in Dublin and the Space Agency for Acting in Ireland.

Paul Currently has two series in Pre Production in Ireland with Rte, A drama series on Football hooliganism and Doc series with Marmalade Films producing.

Paul also serves as a popular MC, panellist & speaker, on Soccer podcasts and live events, Paul was also Casting and Voiceover Director for Google for their new Maps and Os Voice speakers in London.

Paul also hosts and produces the popular Football Podcast the CultOfCantona interviewing some of their United club Legends inc Bryan Robson, Lee Sharpe, Denis Irwin, Brian McClair and many more.

Aileen

Aileen has been working as a professional voice over artist for over 20 years across all genres including animation, gaming, audiobooks and commercials for tv and radio. She is also a theatre and TV actress, singer and voice coach.

She has voiced hundreds of characters in animated films and tv series.  Some films and TV include Warner Brother’s Luis & The Aliens, Disney’s Space Chickens in SpaceLu and the Ballybunch , Crap Rap, Teenology and I’m an animal  for Oscar nominated Brown Bag FilmsNiko and the way to the stars, My Fairy Troublemaker for Moetion FilmsRainbow Rangers and Zoonicorns for Telegael .

Other animation companies include: Kavaleer, Treehouse Republic, Ink And Light, Igloo, Dancing Girl Productions, Magma Films, Piranha Bar, Genius Brands, Monster Animation, Monster Entertainment, Turnip And Duck, Pikkukala and Walking The Dog.

In commercials for TV and radio Aileen has worked with well-known brands such as Lidl, Mercedes, Miéle, Barry’s Tea, Mace, Centra, Joe Duffy Motors, Pom Bears, It’s For Women, Zurich Insurance, Irish Ferries, Aware, Trocaire and many others.

In the gaming world Aileen is quickly building a reputation as a sought after and versatile actress. Her most notable roles to date are Dahlia in Genshin Impact, Dusk in Arknights, Phyla-Vell and Queens of Annihilation in Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Thecla and Niamh in The Talos Principle 2Raquel in Beyond Steel Sky and Elseal in Another Eden.

Recently Aileen just finished working on a brand new audiobook, Our Deadly Summer, written by Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. She also voices one of the main characters in upcoming animated feature film Outfoxed featuring Bono.


Final Note
